Lawrence Hospital Center will offer the public free asthma screenings on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 10am to 1pm inside the hospital’s Lobby Conference Room. Alan Kaufman, MD, a board certified allergy and immunology specialist will perform two tests – a peak flow meter reading to determine airway capacity and an exhaled nitric oxide test to measure how sensitive your lungs are. The tests are available to anyone ages 5 and up. No appointment is necessary and pre-registration is not required. As we enter allergy season, Dr. Kaufman reminds us that approximately 90% of people with allergies have up to a 50% chance of developing asthma if their allergies are left untreated.
