For 18 years, lifelong Eastchester resident Jean Madsen has been volunteering at Lawrence Hospital Center. She is one of the millions of unsung heroes across the United States who seek out ways to help people in their communities. Madsen can be seen answering questions and greeting patients and visitors as they pass by the front desk in Lawrence's lobby.
Lawrence Hospital Center will be taking part in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on April 26th.

Lawrence Hospital Center is encouraging everyone in the community to recognize their physicians during this year's National Doctors Day, which is held annually on March 30th. The special day gives us time to reflect on the hard work physicians do each and every day as they take care of the sick and injured. Lawrence Hospital Center will be honoring its physicians with special activities, as all of the hospital’s staff makes it a point to celebrate our doctors on this day of appreciation.

Stroke Awareness Day | 3/27/2014

On Tuesday, May 20th, between 11am and 1pm, Lawrence Hospital Center will be hosting its annual Stroke Awareness Day.

Join Dr. Preya Ananthakrishnan, a board-certified breast surgeon with Columbia University Center for Advance Surgery at Lawrence Hospital, to learn about what you can do to prevent breast cancer.

Lawrence Hospital Center is hosting its first ever Bloodless Medicine & Surgery and Blood Conservation Forum at Beckwith Pointe in New Rochelle on Saturday, April 5th.

Lawrence Hospital Center in Bronxville is highlighting the importance of making informed food choices during National Nutrition Month. This year's focus is on combining both taste and nutrition, because eating healthy doesn't have to mean eating bland, tasteless food.

Dietitians from LHC’s Food and Nutrition Services Department will be holding free Lunch and Learns in recognition of National Nutrition Month in March. “Enjoying the Taste of Eating Right” lectures will be held each week from Noon to 1 p.m. in either the Lobby Conference Room or Palmer Hall’s 3rd floor Conference Room. Lunch will also be provided.
Lawrence Hospital Center will be holding guided meditation sessions for those who have been diagnosed with cancer. The sessions will be held every fourth Thursday from 4-5 p.m. at Lawrence's Palmer Hall, 3rd floor conference room. The first session will be held on February 27th.
Lawrence Hospital Center's Spirit of Women program held its second annual Day of Dance celebration at Westchester Manor in Hastings-on-Hudson. Women and men got their dance on by taking part in dance aerobics, yoga and line dancing. Guests also had the opportunity to hear a cardiologist talk about ways to prevent heart disease. Plus, they could participate in free health screenings. In between all the activities at the February 6th event, people enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, a buffet dinner, drinks and dessert.
Lawrence Hospital Center is holding a free, special dinner gathering where people can get a chance to meet and visit with their local doctors on February 20th. This month, Thomas Camisa, MD will focus on why women's hearts are different, and how you can partner with your doctor to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Camisa is a board-certified cardiologist at Lawrence Medical Associates.
Lawrence Hospital Center is holding a free special dinner gathering where people can get a chance to meet and visit with their local doctors. The new "Dinner with the Doctor" series, sponsored by Lawrence's Spirit of Women network, is held once a month.

Bronxville, NY – Create Your Weight is a 10-week, multifaceted adult weight management program that is scientifically based. The class is taught by Registered Dietitian Katie Campbell who focuses on the three most important aspects for long term, successful weight loss: education, physical activity and behavior change.
People in Westchester will now have more options when they need to see a physician because Lawrence Medical Associates is extending the hours at its 685 White Plains Road location in Eastchester.
Lawrence Hospital Center's cardiac program, which provides cutting-edge heart health solutions, is receiving high marks. The cardiology department just received full accreditation for performing adult transthoracic echocardiograms. Transthoracic echocardiograms, which are also called an “echo,” give medical professionals a non-invasive and highly accurate way to check on patients' heart health. This is done by moving a small instrument, called a transducer, over the outside of a patient's chest.

Bronxville, NY - In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, cancer survivors and Lawrence Hospital Center’s Cancer Care Team hit the catwalk to help raise money for the hospital’s Cancer Survivorship Program. Hundreds of people attended the Thursday night event at the Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester.

The dinner and fashion show fundraiser is being co-sponsored by Lawrence Hospital Center’s Spirit of Women Network, which encourages women to make positive changes in their lives by focusing on their total well-being, mind, body and spirit.

Bronxville, NY – After nearly seventy years of deals and unique offerings, Lawrence Hospital Center’s thrift shop, the Bargain Box will be closing its doors. “We are sad to lose the Bargain Box,” says Tracy Conte, Vice President at Lawrence Hospital Center. “It has been an institution here in the Village for 67 years and has had a great run. The decision to close was difficult for everyone involved, especially our volunteers, but everyone agreed the time has come.”

Bronxville, NY - After careful review of plans to modernize Lawrence Hospital Center, the Village of Bronxville Planning Board at its December meeting voted to approve Lawrence Hospital Center’s proposal to construct a new 40,000 square foot Surgery and Oncology Pavilion on its Bronxville campus.

Uterine leiomyomas (fibroids) occur in 20–25% of women of childbearing age and are symptomatic in 10-20%. African-American women are at higher risk, and as many as 50% have fibroids. Symptomatic fibroids are the leading cause of hysterectomy in the United States, accounting for 1/3 of the over 600,000 hysterectomies performed in this country each year.

Ms. Samra, a resident of Bronxville for more than 35 years, and mother of two adult children, is no stranger to the hospital. Bronxville, NY - The bariatric surgery center at Lawrence Hospital Center has been accredited as a Level 1B facility by the Bariatric Surgery Center Network (BSCN) Accreditation Program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This designation means that Lawrence Hospital Center has met the essential criteria that ensures it is fully capable of supporting a bariatric surgery care program and that its institutional performance meets the requirements outlined by the ACS BSCN Accreditation Program.
