Bronxville, NY – February 10, 2012 – Alexandra Xandi Samra has been appointed to Lawrence Hospital Center’s Board of Governors. Ms. Samra, a resident of Bronxville for more than 35 years, and mother of two adult children, is no stranger to the hospital. Her late husband, Victor served on Lawrence’s board for 18 years and was the Vice Chair of the Board and Co-Chairman of the Board’s Quality Improvement Committee.

Together and through the years, the Samras have championed various expansion projects and the launching of new programs and services designed to further enhance Lawrence’s mission of providing the highest quality health care close to home. Lawrence Hospital Center’s recently redesigned Post Partum Unit is one such capital improvement that the Samras generously supported and also bears their names. Additionally, Ms. Samra served as Chairwoman of Lawrence Hospital Center’s Gala Balls in 1994 and 1999. She was chosen the Ball’s Honorary Chair in 2004.

Ms. Samra brings a wealth of experience to the Board as a knowledgeable and dedicated community member. Previously, she has served as Chairwoman of the Bronxville School’s Elementary School Council and utilizing her college major in merchandising, Xandi was a co-owner for five years of Kensington Paper, a specialty store in Bronxville. In addition to pursing education and business excellence, Ms. Samra was a member of the Junior League of Bronxville where she served on its Executive Committee; and a Board member of the Maxwell Institute – an organization that offers outpatient chemical dependency treatment for adults, adolescents and their families. She was also the Chairwoman of the Bronxville Centennial Gala Committee.

For nearly two decades the Samras have been incredibly supportive of Lawrence Hospital. Now, with Xandi as a member of our Board, I am confident she will lend her own experience and wise counsel to help us further propel Lawrence into a vibrant and successful future,” states Edward M. Dinan, President and CEO of Lawrence Hospital Center.

Ms. Samra begins a three year term on Lawrence Hospital Center’s Board of Governors.
