The New Creations program at Lawrence Hospital Center maintains a separate postpartum unit to promote rest, recovery, and adjustment to new parenthood. Each individual's experience is different and each requires a special sensitivity to the needs of the new mother.
Mothers are encouraged to remain with their babies during the day and are offered "rooming-in." To facilitate the new mother's adjustment, one nurse will provide daily care for both you and our newborn.
The more you know about caring for yourself and your new baby, the better prepared you will be after leaving the hospital. Our nurses work with you one-to-one on breast-feeding, care of your newborn and what to expect after discharge. Educational videotapes are also available for your use.
