Your Accommodations
Your comfort is a priority at Lawrence Hospital Center. We make every effort to arrange the kind of accommodations that you prefer and that your physician recommends. Each room is air conditioned and has its own lavatory. All accommodations are subject to room availability and are assigned on the day of admission.
Some private rooms are available. There is a deposit due upon admission for a private room which can be made by check, cash, or major credit card. You will be billed for the difference between the semi-private and private room. Insurance plans do not cover this additional charge.
Your Hospital Bed
Your nurse will demonstrate how to use your hospital bed. Our hospital beds are higher and narrower than most beds, so bedside rails are added for your protection. They may be raised at night or during the day while resting.
Calling the Nurse
A call button attached to a cable is placed within your reach. You may use the button to call for assistance. A staff member will respond to your signal as soon as possible. Patient bathrooms are also equipped with an Emergency Call System.
During the Night
Please stay in bed after you have been prepared for the night. Strange surroundings and sleeping medications may create a hazard if you get out of bed. For assistance during the night, please use your call button.
If You Need a Private Duty Nurse
Some patients choose to have the additional care of a private duty nurse or aide. This optional service may be arranged through our Nursing Staff Office at ext. 5036. The Nursing Office will contact staff approved to provide care at Lawrence.
Please note that your hospital charge does not include private duty nursing fees. You will be billed directly by the agency for this service. Some medical insurance policies will pay for private duty nursing, but prior authorization from your insurer is required in most cases. Generally, you will need written justification from your physician to submit to the insurer.
