Doggie Graduation Ceremony Tonight
June 12, 2007 (Bronxville, NY) – There will be some very special graduates receiving diplomas this evening at Concordia College in Bronxville. They have names like Baxter, Penny and Sesame. These students are actually dogs who have just completed a five week therapy program created by the good dog foundation. The animals and their handlers have mastered various skills and techniques to prepare them for working with a variety of groups.
The nine canine graduates will be ready for duty at a number of venues including Lawrence Hospital Center in Bronxville as part of its pet therapy program. The dogs, which represent a variety of species including everything from a Greyhound to a Miniature Poodle, will visit appropriate patients throughout the community hospital. Pet therapy has been shown to aid the healing process and help make a patient's stay in the hospital more comfortable.
This evening's graduation ceremony takes place at Concordia College's Old Music Hall off Concordia Place. For more information concerning this evening's event, call Leslye Lynford at 914-843-8118 or 914-771-6378.
