Lawrence Hospital Center's Echocardiology Earns Top Accreditation

Bronxville, NY (April 2, 2007) – The Echocardiology Lab at Lawrence Hospital Center has been awarded another three year accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL). Lawrence has the only accredited hospital based lab in all of Westchester County. "Our doctors and staff have worked hard to achieve this distinction. We're committed to providing quality care to our heart patients and that's why we went through this voluntary accreditation process," states Mitchell Fishbach, MD, Director of Cardiology Services at Lawrence Hospital Center.

In order to win accreditation, laboratory staff had to pass a rigorous set of standards developed by the ICAEL. Testers evaluated the Echocardiology Lab for core quality indicators such as cardiologist interpretations of echocardiogram images and data; the actual quality of pictures of the heart taken by sonographers; lab equipment and its maintenance records; and its service contract agreements. In addition, all members of the Echocardiography team had to meet on-going continuing education course requirements related to this specialty.

Lawrence Hospital Center's Echocardiology Lab offers a full range of state-of-the-art services including; Echocardiograms, Stress Echocardiograms, Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), Electrocardiograms (ECG or EKG), Stress Tests, Holter Monitoring, EEG (Electroencephalogram) and Non-Invasive Arterial Doppler Studies.
