Physician Gets Nod from Prestigious Medical Group
Bronxville, NY (June 19, 2006) – Peter Foley Rizzo. MD takes over as the new President of the Westchester County Medical Society during a ceremony on Wednesday, June 21st.
Dr. Rizzo, an orthopedist at Lawrence Hospital Center in Bronxville, will oversee the 1200 member group which was founded in 1797. The Society's mission is to promote public health through legislative advocacy; continuing medical education (CME); and provide overall support to physicians. "We will focus the public's attention on the reasons behind the closings of hospitals and nursing homes, lack of access to health care and the rising costs of health insurance," stated Dr. Rizzo.
The induction ceremony for the 45 year old physician will take place on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Citibank Executive Center in Armonk. For ticket information, Member physicians can call the Society at (914) 967-9100.
There have been other Lawrence Hospital Center doctors who have served as President of the Westchester County Medical Society. They include: Dr. Charles A. Bertrand, Dr. Mark L. Fox, Dr. Sanford A. Kaplan, Dr. Alison Landolt, Dr. Thomas A. Lansen, Dr. Peter S. Liebert, Dr. Thomas D. Rizzo (Dr. Peter Foley Rizzo's father) and Dr. Waring Willis.
Dr. Rizzo is the third generation of his family to serve on the Lawrence Hospital Center Medical staff. He lives in Bronxville with his wife, Charlotte and four children.
