Preparing for Childbirth

Lawrence Hospital Center offers a comprehensive range of maternity education programs for the entire family. Updated regularly, these are designed to give you and your family the tools and options necessary to make healthy decisions about your childbirth experience.

Our programs include Lamaze Childbirth Preparation taught by experienced nurses who are certified Lamaze instructors. The class familiarizes parents with the childbirth process from labor and delivery through postpartum and includes a tour of the unit. Cesarean birth, medication, and complications are also discussed. The techniques of relaxation, breathing, and pushing are taught to new expectant parents.

Additionally, expectant mothers and families are encouraged to tour our labor and delivery, nursery, and postpartum areas.
